Hong Kong is geographically compact and boasts one of the worlds most efficient, safe, affordable and frequent public transport system. Buses Double-decker
buses, which run from 6am till midnight, cover most parts of the
territory. All are relatively inexpensive, with fares ranging from
HK$ 1.2 to HK$ 45. The fare is paid on entering the bus; exact fare
is required.Minibuses are yellow with a red stripe. These pick up passengers and let them off anywhere along a designated route except at double-decker bus stops and in restricted areas. A sign on the front (some with the English version below) indicates the final destination. Fares in urban areas usually range from HK$1.5 to $18. Pay as you alight; change is given. Maxicabs are yellow with a green stripe. These run specific routes and have fixed prices ranging from HK$ 2 to HK$20, depending on the distance traveled. A sigh on the front indicates the destination. Pay the exact fare as you get on. Bus Routes There are 3 Bus Companies with overlaping routes.Their single-deck and double-deck Big Buses also have compettion from Mini Buses on some routes. Buses require "Exact Change". An "Octopus Card" solve that problem on most major transportation including the MTR. Visitors should get one to use.
